Concordia to install new Comfort Dog

Sept. 16, 2019

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Concordia Lutheran High School will be installing its new Comfort Dog, Jared, during a special service on Wednesday, Sept. 18.

The installation service will take place at the beginning of chapel, which begins at 9:25 a.m.

Jared works as a Comfort Dog with students at Concordia as well as at Holy Cross Lutheran Church and School. He was trained through the LCC (Lutheran Church Charities) K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry.

He interacts with people at churches, schools, nursing homes, hospitals, various events and in disaster response situations.

“Jared is a friend who brings a calming influence and allows people to open up their hearts and receive help for what is affecting them,” according to the ministry.

Jared has already been interacting with students yet this year under the care of Physical Education Teacher, Pam Rusher.
