Preparing 8th Grade Students for CLHS

Now that your student’s freshman schedule has been completed, you might be wondering now what?

Incoming Freshman Checklist

  • If your student is scheduled to take Honors Algebra or Honors Geometry and did not take a Math Placement Test yet, please email Mr. Eric Kaschinske at [email protected] to get a date scheduled to take the test.
  • If you want to apply for our Tuition Scholarship (need-based scholarship) the deadline is May 15!
  • If you are not receiving the Future Cadet monthly e-newsletter, please email me at [email protected] so that you keep updated about open gyms, practices, tryouts and other school activities that are happening over the summer. We do not want your student to miss out on anything!
  • We have a great free mentoring program called EPIC (Empowering & Preparing Incoming Cadets). We match your student up with a sophomore with similar interests and we do 3 fun events over the summer! If your student would like a mentor, please have them complete this survey at clhscadets.com/EPIC/ by May 31.
  • You will want to get your student’s school uniform shirts ordered no later than July 30 so that you will receive them in time for the first day of school. They can be ordered online at clhscadets.com/uniforms/
  • Purchase your student’s device (iPad, Macbook, or Chromebook) Click here for recommendations.
  • School Registration Days are July 29, 30, and August 3. Please complete the paperwork in advance to save time at clhscadets.com/admissions/registration. There will be an used uniform sale on July 30 at Registration. Students will get their school picture taken this day. They will also want to bring in their device or they can register it at home (directions here
  • Since every student’s schedule is different, you will get a supply list after they start school. Along with their device, they will need a TI84 calculator.
  • We offer a cashless system for lunch accounts. You can set one up at k12paymentcenter.com
  • All students that would like to play a Fall Sport need to have Sports Physicals completed between April 1 and July 31. We are switching to a website called Family ID for Sports Physicals so that forms can be submitted online. More information to come later on our website.
  • Make sure all immunizations are up to date.
  • New Student Orientation Day is August 11 from 8 am – noon. Students need to wear their school uniform.
  • First Day of School – August 12

Of course if you have any questions feel free to call me at (260) 483-1102, ext. 298.
