March 19, 2020
Good afternoon,
We wanted to make you aware that Governor Holcomb has made the decision to close schools (both private and public) through May 1. During this time, we will continue remote learning. We have begun planning for the additional 3 weeks we will be doing remote learning, and will share when we are able. As far as the remaining 4 weeks of school in May, we do not yet know the full impact that this will have as far as AP testing, school-sponsored events, and other activities, but we are working to answer those questions for you. At this point we know that all state testing has been canceled such as ISTEP (high school) and ILEARN (elementary/middle school).
We know that this will have a significant impact on our students as they were looking forward to athletics, events, and other spring activities that may be further impacted. Please know that our counselors, teachers, staff, and administrators are here to help you through this time.
In the meantime, please continue your work through remote learning. We know that this is an adjustment for everyone, but we are so blessed by the level of community that we have been able to maintain despite our distance.
In an effort to support our students, families, faculty and staff, we will continue building hours at Concordia Lutheran High School but in a modified way. On days when remote learning is in session, the building will be open from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. On days when remote learning is not in session, the building will be open from 9 am to noon. The building will be closed on Friday, April 10, in observance of Good Friday.
During these hours, there will be limited staff on hand while we encourage everyone who is able to work remotely. We will still be answering your calls and emails.
God’s continued blessings to you. Know that you are being prayed for every day! Keep up the great work!
Following His Lead,
Mychal Thom,
Head of School
