What do teachers do during the summer?

With summer in full swing, what are all the teachers doing? I can’t speak for all of us, but I can share a snapshot of what my summer looks like!

Reflect and Renew:

In June, I reflect on the previous school year, and I list what went well and what didn’t. I pray for all of the students I won’t see next year. I read a lot! I read books about education and books so I can recommend books to students.

In August, I prepare for the new year by keeping the positive and tossing the negative! I figure out what I want the year to look like and pray for all of the students coming for the next school year.

Enjoy and Relax:

In July, I make my family my priority. I am off of social media and making an effort to connect with family and friends.

I am kayaking, hiking, and going to water parks and baseball games! Of course, I continue to read!

I pray all of you also have a break to reflect and renew as well as enjoy and relax with those you love. I feel very blessed to be in a profession that has the summer as a natural time to do those things.
