What's your title at CLHS?
Vicar and Theology Teacher
When did you start at CLHS?
Started Fall 2022
Please describe your position at CLHS.
I'll be helping fill in for Pastor Hoham this school year. I'll be teaching theology classes and assisting with chapel.
What was your education that led you to CLHS?
Out of high school I completed four years of a Bachelor of Music Education at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. Four years, but not quite enough to graduate. I left school and didn't go back until several years later, finishing a B.A. in music theory and composition at California State University East Bay in the San Francisco Bay Area. I stayed at that school for another two years, doing grading and teaching for the music department while I completed a M.A. in music composition. Fast forward another several years, and I'm now halfway through the M.Div program at Concordia Theological Seminary Fort Wayne.
What did you love most about teaching at CLHS?
I'm looking forward to teaching this upcoming year!
What's your favorite story about your time at CLHS?
Ask me again in the spring, I'm sure I'll have multiple stories!
Who were your mentors in your career to becoming an educator?
I've had a few: Dr. Charles Norris at Grand Valley, Dr. Buddy James, Dr. Jeffrey Miller, and Dr. Frank LaRocca at Cal State all have been instrumental in bringing me to where I am. There are too many faculty at the seminary to name, but I'll mention Dr. David Scaer and Dr. Arthur Just as two who have challenged me to grow in particular.
