Fall of 2016

Please describe your position at CLHS.
I teach Health & Wellness, Boys Physical Education, and Online Physical Education. I work mostly with Freshmen and Sophomores.

What was your education that led you to CLHS?
I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education (Teaching) from Indiana State University in 2000. I also have a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology from University of North Texas.

What did you love most about teaching at CLHS?
Concordia is a community built on respect, support, and love for Christ. This makes it such a great place to work. I have amazing colleagues who support each other and students in so many ways.

What's your favorite story about your time at CLHS?
Every year there are stories that arise from Service Day. The year that stands out is the one in which we did the most work in the worst conditions. We had trouble finding a work site that year so we ended up pulling invasive weeds in Our Creators Classroom on campus. What I remember most is the heavy rain! It poured the whole time. We were cold & wet, but we collected a massive pile of weeds. Lunch that day was very quiet because everyone was so exhausted.

Who were your mentors in your career to becoming an educator?
I have had a lot of mentors throughout my career. My best mentors have been the ones that I have worked with along the way. Coach Adams at Forest Lane Academy in Richardson, TX and Dr. Kim Duchane at Manchester University were both influential in my teaching career. Mrs. Rusher and Mr. Koehlinger have been great mentors who made my transition to CLHS very smooth and continue to guide me.
