Each Honors Academy student completes a Senior Research Project that reflects an academic interest, personal concern, or career aspiration. The student designs the project, conducts research, and maintains a portfolio that documents the project. Each student is guided by a mentor and then presents his/her work. This is the culminating project for the Honors Academy students.
This year there are 10 seniors who will be presenting throughout March, April and early May. The presentations are open to the public and free to attend.
Monday, April 22 | Auditorium | 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Max Adair: The Statistical Keys to Success in High School Basketball
In my project I will be diving into the statistics from our 2023-2024 basketball season at Concordia Lutheran High School. I will analyze the data and trends to see what statistical aspects in high school basketball best lead to success.
Luke Bieberich: How to Create a Swim Practice
For my project, I created a website that provides information for new swimmers and coaches on how to create a swim practice for themselves or for a recreational team. The website gives the reader information on topics such as how to structure a swim practice, what focus to have for practice, and how to get the most out of swimmers. The website also has information regarding the different elements of the sport of swimming. The website is helpful to understand the sport of swimming and how to excel at it.
Alex Jones: German American Partnership Program (GAPP) Host Guide
Using experience and research, my project has been developing a guide for American families while hosting German high school students. It will help them through a variety of situations, give advice for a successful experience, as well as provide any necessary background information that would be useful in hosting.

Lydia O’Dell: 3D Printed Saxophone Mouthpieces
Being a musician can become expensive very quickly. For my project, I combined my music knowledge and engineering skills to create high-quality, affordable saxophone mouthpieces. In my presentation, I will dive into the designing, testing, and manufacturing that composed the development of these mouthpieces, as well as the physics behind how they work.
Sydney Reynolds: The Physics of Baseball and Softball
This project is all about how baseball and softball differ because of physics concepts. Using what I’ve learned in class and through research, I compare and contrast the two sports through a physics lens.
