Quinn Miller Named Barnabas Award Recipient

Senior Quinn Miller has been named Concordia Lutheran High School Barnabas Award recipient for the 2023-24 school year. The award was presented at the end of the senior class chapel service on Wednesday, May 15. There were thirteen total finalists from the senior class who were nominated for the award by their classmates, faculty and staff.

The Barnabas award is to be presented annually to a member of the senior class who exemplifies that for which Barnabas stands. Barnabas was a missionary and co-worker of St. Paul. The name “Barnabas” means “encourager” and that is what he was. His mission and ministry in life was to be of service to his fellow man. He lived the faith and was dedicated to bolstering and encouraging fellow believers in theirs. His actions spoke clearly in alignment with what he professed to be. The Barnabas Award is established as a gift of the class of 1986 to recognize an individual whose life and actions exemplify that credo.

There are five criteria a senior must exhibit to be nominated for the award.
  1. Exhibit an active involvement in the ministry of their local church congregation.
  2. Actively seek to befriend and encourage fellow students and faculty in their spiritual as well as temporal lives.
  3. Display an active participation in the worship life of the Concordia family.
  4. Demonstrate a willingness to share their faith in Christ with others in both word and action.
  5. Exhibit an overall commitment to give rather than receive, to serve rather than be served.
Congratulations to Quinn on winning this award, living his faith, and being an excellent example of "encourager" to others.
