Importance of Peer Ministry

The CLHS Peer Ministers are a caring, diverse group of students who are aware of the needs of those around them. They are students ministering to students with the story of the Good Samaritan as their model. Peer Ministers are available as caring listeners who assist fellow students that are in conflict or crisis.

Intentional acts of kindness to others are at the core. Peer Ministry is about making friends, being a friend, and helping a friend. While others talk about ministry and faith, Peer Ministers learn to live the ministry in quiet, caring, and welcoming ways.  Some of the ways that the Peer Ministers help and enhance the CLHS school atmosphere are by welcoming new students; taking them on tours and spending time helping the student get acclimated to their new surroundings, posting a PM/PM which is a Peer Ministry Positive Message on the board outside of the office, or writing a personal card every member of the faculty, staff and support staff.

Since school began the Peer Ministers have done door greetings, welcome notes to all of the faculty and news students, Bible verses in every classroom on Bathroom Prayer Sinks, Positivity Post It Notes, and a Thankfulness campaign is coming in November.  Simply acts of kindness can make such a large impact on the world in which we live, so let’s all make some extra effort to share a little more of the grace of God to those around…it will make all of the difference in the world!
