Coach David Miller Inducted into Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame

"The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Board of Directors announces the 2025 Women’s Induction Class to be honored on Saturday, April 26, 2025.

Dave Miller posted a 479-227 record for a .678 win percentage and two state championships in 31 seasons as a varsity girls’ basketball coach. Miller guided the Bellmont girls to a 180-92 ledger from 1986-99. He then directed the Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran girls to a 299-135 mark from 2003-21, claiming Class 3A state titles with the Cadets in 2010 and 2012. His teams also won 14 sectionals (1989, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1997, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), five regionals (1992, 1993, 2010, 2011, 2012) and two semi-states (2010, 2012). A 1971 graduate of Bellmont, he played only freshman basketball in high school. He went on to Concordia University in Nebraska, playing three years of basketball there and earning a bachelor’s degree in education in 1975. He later earned a master’s degree in education from Indiana University in 1981. Miller started his career as a teacher at St. John Flatrock School in Monroeville, coaching seventh-and eighth-grade girls from 1975-82. He moved to Central Lutheran in New Haven, coaching eighth-grade girls from 1982-85. He then went to Bellmont, coaching eighth-grade girls in 1985-86 before guiding the varsity girls for the next 13 seasons. Miller coached the Bellmont seventh-grade boys for one season in a four-year period of not coaching at the high school level, then started his 18-year tenure as the Fort Wayne Concordia girls’ coach in 2003. He taught at Bellmont from 1985-2014, then taught at Woodburn Lutheran for three more years before retiring from the classroom in 2017. Miller served as a Junior All-Star assistant coach in 2007, the Indiana All-Star head coach in 2011 and was named the NFHS/Indiana Coach of the Year in 2012."
