Alumni Spotlight: Elena (Moreno) Roeth

What is your job title? Describe what a normal day is for you.
I work for Insurance Management Group, an independent insurance agency. I am a Commercial Insurance agent/ account manager. Every day looks different for me, which I love. I spend my time meeting with current and prospective clients, managing accounts for our current clients to make sure their policies grow with them as their businesses grow, and quoting policies and delivering proposals. I attend networking events. My job also allows me time to give back in our community.

What led you to your current occupation?
I worked in the healthcare field for eight years before making a career shift to be where I am today. I was in a small group through my church and one day expressed that I might be ready for a change. A couple of days later, one of the other members of our group reached out and asked if I would be interested in working for their company. It was a leap of faith, and I am so glad that I made it. Be open to new opportunities - you never know how much your life can change for the better if you don't take a chance every once in awhile.

What was your education after Concordia?

I participated in student council for three years, acting as president of my class for my senior year.

What did you love most about CLHS?
I loved the small class sizes and the accessibility to be able to try all sorts of things to find out what my interests were. I also made many lifelong friends during my time at Concordia.

What advice would you pass along to current CLHS students?
Take it all in, it goes fast! Get involved and try new things. Cherish and foster the friendships that you make while you are there.

What is your favorite bible verse?
John 13:34-35 "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
