As both the admissions director at Concordia Lutheran High School and a parent of a Concordia student, I get a unique—and personal—perspective on what makes our school so special. I have the privilege of walking alongside families as they explore high school options, and I also experienced firsthand what it’s like to entrust my own child’s education and growth to Concordia. I can confidently say: this is the best high school in Fort Wayne.
Here’s why.
A Place Where Students Belong
One of the most common things I hear from new students and their families is, “We felt welcomed from day one.” Concordia has a way of wrapping its arms around students, whether they’re coming from one of our Lutheran grade schools, public/online/homeschool/private school or are brand new to the area. Our EPIC Mentor Program, Freshman Retreat, and Koinonia small groups, and Christ-centered culture make it easy for students to feel seen, supported, and connected. As a mom, that means everything.
Academics that Challenge and Prepare
Concordia offers rigorous academic programs that prepare students for life beyond high school—whether that’s college, the workforce, or military service. From AP and dual credit courses to specialized programs like JROTC and Honors Academy, students are challenged to grow intellectually and equipped to succeed.
We also partner with Anthis Career Academy and ABC Apprenticeships, providing students with hands-on career and technical training. On top of that, we offer our own internship program that connects students to real-world learning experiences in the Fort Wayne community. And for those who need extra support, free after-school tutoring is available every day.
Faith at the Center
At Concordia, faith isn’t just a class—it’s woven into the fabric of daily life. Students grow in their understanding of God’s Word through devotions, chapel, service opportunities, and peer-led ministries. They also take Theology classes each year, exploring the Bible, Christian doctrine, and how to live out their faith in everyday life.
It’s a place where your child can explore their faith, ask big questions, and deepen their relationship with Christ.
A Community That Feels Like Family
Concordia is big enough to offer a wide range of sports, clubs, and fine arts opportunities, but small enough that every student is known by name. And because of our size, students don’t have to choose just one path—they can do it all! It’s not uncommon to see a student in the musical, playing a sport, involved in student council, and leading a devotion all in the same semester.
At Concordia, many students truly feel like they can “Do It All,” and that freedom to explore and grow is one of the things that sets us apart.
A Parent's Peace of Mind
As a parent, there’s no greater gift than knowing your child is in a place where they’re safe, cared for, and thriving. That’s what Concordia has been for our family—and I hear that echoed in so many conversations with other parents.
If you’re still deciding where your child should spend their high school years, I encourage you to take a closer look at Concordia. Join us for our final Twilight Tour on Tuesday, April 30 at 6:00 PM to find out why our students love it here, get admissions information, eat a sweet treat and see the difference for yourself.
I think you’ll see what I see—a place that’s more than just a school. It’s a home.
“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”
— Proverbs 22:6
