Shining Lights: Students Serve through summer mission trips

It was the trip of a lifetime for more than 65 Concordia high school students. They served on mission trips over the summer through their association churches, locally and abroad.

“Mission trips give students the ‘field trip’ of a lifetime complete with two primary benefits: leaving behind the distractions of daily life while getting a glimpse of Biblical truths in action,” said Mark Dolde, Koinonia ministry leader. “Students return from these trips with a greater awareness of local needs and a servant’s heart that shows how God can meet some of those needs through youth.”

Students spend the time playing with kids at orphanages, distributing food in needy villages, building porches and painting houses for the less fortunate, and giving a woman the house she had always wanted.

“I realized that not thinking about yourself or not worrying about yourself, it can bring you more than you could ever imagine,” said senior Ashley Olson who attended the Costa Rica trip.
