More than Enough

“God isn’t enough; He is more than enough.”

Abundance definitions: Extremely plentiful, oversufficient supply or quantity; overflowing fullness

Scripture to meditate on (ESV):

Matthew 25:29 “For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.”

John 1:16 “From his fullness we have all received grace upon grace.”

Philippians 4:19 “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

At a conference recently, we started by having devotions. One of the phrases mentioned was, “God isn’t enough; He is more than enough.” That phrase really made me stop, think and reflect. As I reflected, the word abundance kept coming back to my mind. The Bible demonstrates the Lord’s abundance all throughout. He always knows what we need at the appropriate time. As I read scripture it seems like Jesus never did anything “just enough.”… He never settled! What a great example to follow! However, because of sin, our culture, and the devil trying to tell us opposite, it is hard to stick to the path.

Thanks be to God for his blessings that flow — that overflow — daily. Thanks be to God for his more than enough and undeserved supply of grace and mercy!

Heavenly Father,

So often we want more. We want to do things our own way and we take what you give us for granted. Thank you for your daily bread and all of life’s blessings even when in our mind we might not think it is enough. Help us to know that your time and will is better than any plan we have. You are the great provider and supplier all of our needs. Give us the faith we need to ask you for what we need, but the trust to know you will provide those needs in your time. Your grace is sufficient and help us never to lose sight of that.

In your name, Amen.
