Summer Happenings

I hope you are enjoying your summer and finding time for rest and relaxation with family and friends. During the summer, a number of our faculty are engaged in sport camps, teaching summer school, and attending professional development workshops, while also enjoying time for with family and friends. Time away allows for rest and the opportunity to do something different from our daily routine. Speaking of doing something memorable…

Congratulations to Concordia seniors, Michelle Frerking and Bethany Zeckzer, who sang in Carnegie Hall on June 25 with the Lutheran National Festival Choir. Check out the pictures on our Facebook page. Concordia College-New York, one of our sister-colleges, presented a celebratory concert of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation. Bethany and Michelle joined 160 singers from schools and churches in New York, Nebraska and Germany in the choir festival. Well done!

Congratulations to Mr. Tim Mannigel, who will be our Athletic Director.

It has been an honor and pleasure working with Mr. Dean Doerffler this past school year. Mr. Doerffler is retiring after 40+ years of service and ministry to Concordia and the Fort Wayne community as a teacher, coach, and athletic director. The Fort Wayne community has been blessed by his service and kindness. I greatly appreciate witnessing Mr. Doerffler’s passion, pride, and love of Concordia shine through his gentle demeanor and genuine smile. One of my favorite moments with Mr. Doerffler this past school year occurred when the two of us were meeting with a parent who was facing a difficult and emotional decision regarding their child. Worth noting is that both the parent and Mr. Doerffler are Concordia graduates. Mr. Doerffler leaned forward and with compassion said, “We’re both Cadets. We both bleed maroon and white. We want the best for our children which this school in Christ provides”. Thank you Dean!

Go Concordia!
