Hello Concordia,
Congratulations to our 13 visual art students who were awarded Gold or Silver awards in the Scholastics Art Competition. The student's artwork in on display at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art through April 8. I encourage you to see their work displayed in the gallery. Thank you to our Art Teachers, Mr. Trevor Campbell and Ms. Kylee Heisler, for your inspiring work.
Thank you to the 100-plus parents who joined us for Parent-Teacher Conferences on February 1 at Concordia. These meetings are important in building the vital relationship between home and school. Many of our parents also attended one of the Parent Workshops the same evening about course selection and planning for next school year, Theology courses offered at Concordia, and new guidelines for high school graduation the Indiana Department of Education recently announced for the “Class of 2023” and following years.
This past week our Grade 9-11 students received course registration information for the 2018-19 school year. Concordia is adding new courses in science, theology, physical education, social studies, fine arts, and mathematics. A four-year guide plan and all course descriptions are found here. Please contact your School Counselor for help and information about course registration, if needed.
Concordia scored an “A” from the Indiana Department of Education school scores for the 2016-17 school year. This grading is based upon our Students’ iStep and ECA scores and percent of Graduating Students. Though it is encouraging to earn the “A” grade, the real work continues to be reflected by our dedicated students and faculty in growing in knowledge, faith, and wisdom. These three tenants have been foundational to Concordia for 83 years and with God’s help with continue.
This year Concordia has 426 student enrollees in one or more of our 13 Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Some of our students are enrolled in one AP course, while some of our students are enrolled in 3 or 4 AP courses. Enrollment in an AP course provides the student with an rigorous academic experience that better prepares them for their future university studies.
This past week was National School Counselors Week. Concordia is blessed and grateful for our four School Counselors, Mrs. Vicki Ober, Mrs. Nicole Bolinger, Ms. Kim Nash, and Mr. Michael Campbell. Our school counselors balance a number of tasks with our students, helping them select courses, fulfill HS Graduation requirements, plan and advise in the college counseling process,
Finally, a reminder that Concordia is in partnership with Cross Connections Counseling, providing our students and families with counseling services to complement the work of our School Counselors. Mrs. Jill Bulmahn, MSW, LCSW is a counselor at Cross Connections Counseling that is at Concordia every Monday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in room 253. Please contact your School Counselor to schedule a time to meet, or, stop by Mrs. Bulmahn’s office (Room 253) for any questions about available services.
Go Concordia!
