HOSA competes at state

The HOSA chapter competed at the Indiana State Leadership Conference (SLC) April 9 -11.

The following students walked across the stage as a top 10 finalist in the state in their events: Chase Deetz - Pharmacology, Emma Rekeweg - Dental Terminology, Caitlin McGaffick - Sports Medicine, Hayley Dubay & Jordan Reining - Forensic Medicine, Jake Sassmannhausen, Seth Murphy & Caitlin McGaffick - HOSA Bowl. Chase Deetz placed 3rd in his event so he will advance to the International HOSA Conference held in Dallas, TX in June.

In addition, Jake Sassmannhausen earned the Barbara James Service Award for his 100+ hours of community service at Turnstone where he assists with the power soccer program. The chapter also added a middle school division this year.

All middle students that participated advanced to the international conference in their events: Taylor Scheer - Medical Terminology (1st Place) & Extemporaneous Health Poster (2nd Place), Demetri Panagiotou - Medical Terminology (3rd Place), Joshua Castleman - Medical Reading (1st Place), Madi Dellinger - Medical Reading (2nd place) & Health Education (1st Place), Morgan Schaefer - Nutrition (1st Place) and & Health Education (1st Place). Congratulations to all competitors on a great HOSA SLC!
