Why it's great for parents to be involved

It has truly been a blessing to work at Concordia during the last two years.

Being an alumnus from the Class of 1993 and a member of the Development team, it has been amazing to see the passion some alumni have for the high school and the ways that they give back.

My father, Steve Hallien, Class of 1968, has been busy helping prepare for their 50th class reunion this fall. It is neat to see their excitement as they look forward to getting back together for this milestone celebration.

Another role I have is as a parent to a senior. It is easy for us to get focused on the tuition costs, athletic fees, etc. rather than all of the great things that happen at the high school. The sacrifices we as a family have made to send our kids to Christian schools has never been something we second guessed because we know the value of this education.

Our daughter has made friendships here that I know will last a lifetime and has been inspired by teachers who put their heart and soul into their teaching every day.

A good way to witness the great things that happen here is to get involved and attend sporting events.  We look forward to every Friday night where we can sit under the stadium lights to watch our great cheerleaders and football players. We have some great events coming up this fall, and I would encourage you to participate. Our annual Golf Outing will be held at the Chestnut Hills Golf Club on September 27, and our Cadets in Cadence Auction will be held on December 1.

I encourage you to think about ways you can get involved. What a blessing it is to send our kids to a place that keeps Christ at the Center!
