Concordia Lutheran High School is celebrating the fine arts with a week full of activities beginning April 24.

With the help of Johnny Tincap, the Concordia Lutheran High School team are striking out hunger this year through CANstruction. The 2017 Fort Wayne theme is “Fort Wayne Famous.” The CLHS team is building Parkview Field with Johnny Tincap at center field and the Fort Wayne Skyline in the back.

We know and believe, as Christians, that the life we have on this earth is not all we have — we have eternal life through Jesus Christ. But we can, under some circumstances, give the gift of life to save others when we die. Donating your organs, tissue, or eyes is a selfless act that could save the lives of possibly eight people or enhance the lives of up to 75 people, and it costs you nothing (can you think of someone who saved us and it cost us nothing?).

April and early May are exciting and busy times at Concordia. Students are working hard to finish this school year strong. Students and teachers in Advanced Placement (AP) classes are preparing for their exams in early May. Spring sports are in full action. Teachers continue their dedicated work in the classroom and numerous co-curricular activities, which they lead.

Lt Col (Ret) John T. Farquhar has been named this year’s LTG General John Moellering Hall of Honor inductee.

Concordia Lutheran High School welcomes eight new freshmen into the Honors Academy this spring. The new students are Lenice Bailey, Micah Hockemeyer, Abbi Dubbelde, Camden Wagner, Hunter Ehle, Dakota Krocker, Lexi Ehle and Caroline Harding.

Now that I am 10 months into my role as chief financial officer at Concordia Educational Association (CEA) dba Concordia Lutheran High School, I want to share the inner workings of a private school and what role a CPA can play as both a leader and trusted business advisor. Liken to my days as a software consultant, overseeing the non-academic operations of a school can dramatically change my schedule each day. I love the variety!

On April 13, Concordia Lutheran High School will welcome Craig Patterson, a 1984 graduate and a lawyer at Beckman Lawson, LLP, for its monthly Alumni Mentor Program. The goal of the program is to introduce students to various careers paths through alumni connections.

The top 20 films in middle and high school have been chosen for the second annual Concordia Comedy Festival on April 28.
