At the start of this school year, thirty-five (35) students joined the CLHS DECA chapter. Twenty-seven (27) of those students, consisting of 5 seniors, 7 juniors, 7 sophomores and 8 freshmen, are doing DECA for the first time! This is Exciting! This is Daring! Trying something new! High School is a great time to do such things! But you may be wondering yourself … what is DECA?

The following students have been named to the Honor Roll and Honorable Mention list for Fall 2022.

The “Maroon Standard,” Concordia Lutheran High School’s top choir, has been selected to perform at the 2023 Indiana Music Educators Association conference on Saturday, January 14. They will perform a 45-minute set featuring vocal jazz, sacred choral, and Christmas selections. The performance is free and open to the public on Saturday, January 14 at 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Fort Wayne. The choir applied and was selected from choirs statewide to perform.

Happy New Year! Each year the challenge is to decide what I should share in this blog post. This fall, we started a new course at Concordia, and I think it is very much worth sharing with you all.

Making a New Year's Resolution is popular in our culture. A new year is a time for a fresh start, and a new resolve to change something for the better fits well. Of course, we all know that those resolutions can be hard to keep, and we slip back into the "old ways" oh so easily!

Mrs. Mindy Walz is an English Teacher at Concordia. She has been at CLHS since 2013, and has three graduates. She has been a part of Lutheran education her whole life and always reminds her students that they are “Dearly loved children of God!”

We’ve reached halftime of the 2022-2023 academic school year. Just like an athlete who has poured themself out over the first half of play, our students and faculty have tackled a rigorous curriculum, assisted each other and our community in acts of service, and scored their very best on final exams. Now it's time to rest, regroup, and reflect before we start the second semester.

Arguments happen in my classroom every day. Students state strong claims that others in the room vehemently disagree with. Emotions are barely controlled while students struggle to wait their turn to answer questions like this one: Is cereal soup?

The CLHS String Orchestra has just concluded the first half of the school year! We spent the first semester working toward two big concerts.

Myrthe (Harkenrider) Flasch, a graduate from the Class of 2014, saw Church Work as a calling. But not just as a calling in her field but also in her home. Read more in our Alumni Spotlight Q&A.
