After more than five months away from the building, Concordia students returned to school on Aug. 13 with smiles on their faces as well as masks.

Beginning this summer, Concordia upgraded the Zollner Athletic Complex with new field turf on the football field, a brand new track, resurfaced tennis courts, and a new scoreboard with LED display and video capabilities.

On Jan. 25, some of Concordia’s talented thespians competed in a statewide theater competition. The thespian troupe was performing the play “Being Good Places,” an original play written and directed by CLHS teacher Laura Bohnke.

The 2019-2020 year brought about some new changes at Concordia Lutheran High School, but one of the most underground additions is the competitive Robotics team through JROTC.

At this time in the semester the students in weight lifting classes are showing off the improvements they have developed throughout a semester of lifting weights two days per week. Male and female seniors, juniors and sophomores begin and end a semester testing the improvements they have made in the bench press, deadlift, and squat. To keep some strength developed during quarantine periods the students participate in no weight workouts.

About a month ago, as I was scrolling through Yahoo! News, a headline caught my eye that read: This Year’s Rockefeller Christmas Tree Is Extremely 2020. If you did not see this story, I’ll briefly fill you in. When the new Christmas tree that was to be placed in downtown NYC was initially brought in a month or so ago, people were left unimpressed. They found this year’s Rockefeller tree very lacking in appearance.

Concordia Lutheran High School (CLHS) is in Remote Learning mode this week, November 30-December 4. We are attempting to slow the spread of the coronavirus in our school community so that we may return to in-person learning on the CLHS campus on Monday, December 7.

Self-portraits are a classic project in an art class. They teach students about the proportions of the face, you can get a full range of value, and most importantly – you always have your model with you!
