Unsurprisingly, as a chemistry teacher I spend a lot of time talking about chemical bonds. While I may find this fascinating, I fully understand that many of my students and many of you readers find this topic significantly less interesting. However, as a teacher and a child of God, I think it is important that we all spend time cultivating connections with those with whom we daily interact.

Senior athletes were honored tonight, May 19, at the Senior Athletics Banquet for their accomplishments during high school as well as with special awards. Those special awards are listed below.

Since the fall of 1997, Pastor Joe Gudel, or PG, has worked at Concordia teaching comparative religions and apologetics.

The cast of Concordia faculty will be losing one of its most colorful characters at the end of the 2018-19 school year. Christopher Gieschen will be retiring after 42 years of teaching with Concordia. Despite his retirement, Gieschen will be remembered for his devotion to teaching, to God and to Concordia.

Concordia works in many ways to support the mental health of students through direct initiatives as well as community engagement to show them the importance of giving back each year.

Remember when you were a student at CLHS? Whether it was five or 50 years ago that you graduated from 1601 St. Joe River Drive, there are things that have changed, things that are the same, and some things that are quite new. Some of the things that changed: completely different faculty, no industrial arts classes, the Worship Conference Center, and every current student was born in the 21st century.

Recently, Concordia was visited by an Accreditation team representing the National Lutheran School Accreditation body, as well as AdvancED.

It’s been an interesting experience teaching Church History to a group of seniors who are at the cuff of graduating. There have been a number of times I’ve been asked, “Why do we need to take this class?” or even more directly “Why does this class matter?”

Congrats to the Class of 2019! We have 175 members in the senior class this year. They will honored during graduation at 1 p.m. June 2 at the Historic Embassy Theatre in downtown Fort Wayne. The featured speaker is the Rev. Dr. Joseph P. Gudel, CLHS Director of Campus Ministry.

The members of the Class of 2019 at Concordia Lutheran High School have accomplished so much in their time here, and will continue to impact their world for Christ after graduation.
