Students in grades 9, 10 and 11 will take part in our school wide testing day Wednesday, October 16. Grade 9 will be taking the PSAT 8/9 Test and grades 10 and 11 will be administered the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT)/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT).

What am I supposed to do? My family is sick, everyone I work with is sick, I don’t have time to be sick! I have heard this mantra a lot in the past few weeks, even though it is just now fall. I have no idea what this winter may hold for us in terms of viruses and flu.

Concordia’s annual Koinonia Service Day was held on October 4, and Concordia sent 65 separate groups throughout the local community in a variety of service projects. Translated from Greek, Koinonia means “being in Christian fellowship with other Chrisitians.” Concordia’s Koinonia groups consist of 10-12 students from a mixture of grades that meet weekly in prayer, conversation, and fellowship.

A 2000 graduate of Concordia Lutheran High School, Elizabeth Holcombe, a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State, will be returning to CLHS to give a presentation to students on Oct. 14.

On Friday, October 4, Concordia Lutheran High School students and staff gathered for chapel in the morning before heading out into the community for our annual school-wide Service Day.

Now that we are over a month into the school year, I like to reflect on what we have done to help our new students and their families make the transition into Concordia.

Concordia Lutheran High School will induct five new members and one team into its Athletic Hall of Fame on Sept. 28 during a special reception. They also will be honored during the Friday night football game on Sept. 27.

It is with great excitement and pride that we announce that our Monarch butterfly garden is planted and ready for butterfly business! Thanks to an enormous amount of work by our students, teachers, parents and community volunteers we have finished planting over $2,000 worth of milkweed and nectar plants in our outdoor classroom — the OCC.

Concordia Lutheran High School students and teachers have worked hard fundraising and creating awareness for a new monarch butterfly sanctuary, and are now seeing the fruits of their labor.

Concordia Lutheran High School will be installing its new Comfort Dog, Jared, during a special service on Wednesday, Sept. 18.
