It’s almost that time of year. Hard to believe, but there are only 57 days until Christmas. That’s less than two months away! It’s a time when all the traditions and memories of childhood family Christmases start to emerge. And it’s the theme for this year’s Cadets in Cadence Dinner Auction on December 7 at Concordia Lutheran High School.

On October 15 and 16, 70 student peer leaders and 15 adult advisors took part in training for Sources of Strength.

Being transformed by Jesus has nothing to do with voices from heaven or being stricken blind, or being able to perform miracles. Being transformed by Jesus means that you were dead, and you’ve been made alive again.

Submissions are now open for Concordia Lutheran High School’s annual Comedy Festival.

Seasons of Life. My husband and I have now officially entered the “empty nesters” season of our lives. When our youngest child left for college, two of our children lived with us while saving money for their own homes and, in the one case, marriage. I have really noticed the difference in my grocery bill! In addition, there is not as much cleaning and laundry to be done. I do miss having the constant noise and activity. The house is almost too quiet right now.

I have a challenge for you: Add one more fruit or vegetable to your daily routine for one month.

Students in grades 9, 10 and 11 will take part in our school wide testing day Wednesday, October 16. Grade 9 will be taking the PSAT 8/9 Test and grades 10 and 11 will be administered the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT)/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT).

What am I supposed to do? My family is sick, everyone I work with is sick, I don’t have time to be sick! I have heard this mantra a lot in the past few weeks, even though it is just now fall. I have no idea what this winter may hold for us in terms of viruses and flu.

Concordia’s annual Koinonia Service Day was held on October 4, and Concordia sent 65 separate groups throughout the local community in a variety of service projects. Translated from Greek, Koinonia means “being in Christian fellowship with other Chrisitians.” Concordia’s Koinonia groups consist of 10-12 students from a mixture of grades that meet weekly in prayer, conversation, and fellowship.
