Rehmer, now a freshman at Concordia University Chicago, entered the Chicago suburb campus with a sense of ease not felt by other students. Taught to do so during her days at CLHS, the Cadet-turned-Cougar relied on her faith to push her through the stresses of school.

The year 2000 marked not only the change of millennia, but also a shift in the field of video production. For Kenneth Loechner, a 2000 CLHS graduate, the timing couldn’t be better.

In the last 55 years I have been a Concordia Lutheran High School sports fan, and I have seen my share of losses. Our kids always played hard, but being a small school in a conference that includes some of the biggest high schools in the state has made Friday nights a repetition of the David and Goliath battle with David being on the losing end. But not this year. Concordia’s David caught the spirit this year.

Fourteen Concordia Lutheran High School DECA students are advancing to the state level after last weekend’s district competition.

It is hard to put into words the picture that one gets from driving through the night, spending 10 hours on a bus full of high school students on the way to March for Life in Washington, D.C. It is hard to explain the conversations on the streets of city with complete strangers as this generation boldly confesses God’s truth of the value of life. It is difficult to describe the energy that these selfless young people bring into a city full of cynicism and political narcissism. You have to experience it to understand why I see things the way I do.

As we begin our spring semester for the 2016-2017 school year, many of our seniors seem to be fighting terrible cases of “Senioritis.” There is so much anticipation for what is to come after they walk that stage at the Embassy in May and receive the diploma that proved they did it! Anticipation, excitement and readiness for the next chapter are taking over the minds of our CLHS seniors!

At this time of the school year we also look ahead with course selections for next school year. Concordia Lutheran High School will use a new daily time schedule in the 2017-18 school year. The basis for the new schedule will allow students to enroll in eight courses per semester and provide a longer time period when meeting as a class.

A group of 60 Concordia Lutheran High School students will take on Washington, D.C., later this month in support of pro-life.
