More than $20,000 was raised for Concordia families facing hardships amid the COVID-19 pandemic through the Cadet Day of Caring.

Today is our Cadet Day of Caring! We are raising gifts and prayers for Concordia families who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic through the loss of employment or income, illness or other means. Click the link to give to our Emergency Relief Fund.

If you haven’t heard, Concordia Lutheran High School and Holy Cross Lutheran Church and School have adopted a Comfort Dog through the Lutheran Church Charities organization. His name is Jared. He has had nearly 2,000 hours and has been with us since June 2019. In all, there are nine handlers and 20-plus ministry partners that support the ministry of the Comfort Dog program.

The CLHS HOSA club, a competitive medical club, competed at the State Leadership Conference last week. The physical conference in Indianapolis was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic so Indiana HOSA held the State Conference virtually. Competitive events were completed online. Five Concordia students placed in the Top 10 in the state in their event.

Concordia Lutheran High School has established an Emergency Relief Fund to help Concordia students and their families who have been impacted by COVID-19.

On April 28, we will host a “Cadet Day of Caring” where we are asking for your gifts and prayers to support our Emergency Relief Fund. Gifts to this fund will go to provide assistance for tuition, fees, and related Concordia educational expenses to Concordia families in need during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 school years.

What do we do now? How do we get back to where we were? What is the new “normal”? Will I always feel this anxious? How will I ever get do overs for all the things I have missed?

Even as we are sheltering at home, hunkering down, and often feeling stagnant, fresh green life is emerging and growing with the warming temperatures and lengthening days. Normally, at this time of year, my environmental science students would be gearing up to give tours to grade school classes in Concordia’s Our Creator’s Classroom (OCC). We would be clearing paths, patrolling for invasive species, prepping the raised garden beds, deciding what plants to add to the rose garden, and practicing the lessons that the students would teach.
