A popular hashtag used on social media (at least within our community) is #cadetexcellence. In fact, it’s my go-to hashtag when I want to emphasize and/or share something special about Concordia Lutheran High School with my 1,000-plus close friends on Facebook and Instagram.

As I enter my 25th year in education, I look back at the changes that I have seen. Changes that include where I work, colleagues, job titles and responsibilities, technology, daily schedules, and so much more. Each year we add new courses, hire new teachers, and see new and returning students walk through our doors for the start of a new school year.

COVID-19 has made us realize the past few months how much we have and how much we take for granted. I think about all the athletes that missed out on experiences, opportunities, and community when the unthinkable happened. Not being able to participate in our daily activities has made us realize how much we want them.

This week, schools are allowed to start gathering with students again.This will be the first time since schools shut down due to COVID-19 back on March 16. Three and a half long months of isolating and social distancing from our friends, teachers, teammates, and colleagues. There are still more questions to come, but we are moving in the right direction of getting back to normal. In talking with my players, I know they are excited to see each other, compete with one another, and get back to something they enjoy.

Concordia Lutheran High School has named Rick Hanauer as the new head coach for the boys tennis team.

Tickets for Concordia’s Class of 2020 Baccalaureate and Commencement service are available to pick up in the school office beginning Thursday, July 2. Tickets will NOT be available at Parkview Field. There is one envelope per student, and your ticket amounts are based on the amount you indicated on the survey earlier this year (with a maximum of 8 tickets per graduate). You must bring your ticket with you, and you must sit in your assigned seats because of social distancing protocols. Graduates do not need a ticket.
