Oftentimes teachers have their students write an essay titled “What I Did For Summer Vacation.” As this is summer, I thought this teacher would turn the tables and tell you what I did this summer. My wife and I traveled with friends of ours to France and the Czech Republic.

Please bring the all important Emergency Information Form to Registration in July. This form is necessary in order for me to treat your student, should it be needed.

I hope you are enjoying your summer and finding time for rest and relaxation with family and friends. During the summer, a number of our faculty are engaged in sport camps, teaching summer school, and attending professional development workshops, while also enjoying time for with family and friends.

In the Gospel according to John, Jesus spoke of another kind of freedom, a different kind of freedom – a freedom not from political, or social, or economic bondage – but something infinitely more important. In response to His growing critics Jesus told them that if they listened to and believed in Him that they would be set free.

What would you do? I hope that as a follower of Christ and perhaps a student or alumnus of CLHS your first thought would be prayer for all involved, and secondly, that you think about what you experienced or are experiencing at Concordia.

Tim Mannigel, a longtime Concordia Lutheran High School coach and teacher, has been named the new athletic director. He will assume the position on July 1 with the retirement of Dean Doerffler.

Here is an update from Tim LaCroix from the GAPP trip in Germany this summer. The German American Partnership Program (GAPP) has existed at CLHS since 1985. It's an an educational exchange partnership between Concordia Lutheran High School in Fort Wayne, and Zeppelin Gymnasium in Lüdenscheid, Deutschland.

Concordia was recognized by the Indiana Department of Education as a 2016 Advanced Placement (AP) Award Recipient. To be selected, schools must have at least 25 percent of their 2016 graduating class receiving a 3, 4, or 5 on an AP exam. 40% of our 2016 Graduates passed an AP Exam with a score of 3, 4, 5 (5 is a maximum). We received our school's certificate during a ceremony at the Indy Statehouse on June 14.

Once you become a Cadet, the title never leaves you. It follows you into the car, off to work, and then home. Once a Cadet, always a Cadet, even during the summer!
